Back in 2015 my husband became unwell; at the time we didn’t know what was wrong but it turned out to be a B12 deficiency.
Whilst looking for something to try and make him better he happened upon Cranio-Sacral Therapy.
He found it helped him to destress and settle his body, by now he had been diagnosed with the B12 deficiency and started to take B12 and his body was starting to repair itself, this gentle treatment worked alongside the vitamin and helped to settle the system and begin to heal.
He talked about how this made him feel and I began to wonder if it would help my son, who had taken some years to talk and still at the age of 9 struggled finding words and became frustrated lashing out when the words didn’t come to him.
I took him along to see the same therapist that my husband had been seeing and as she worked, he would fall asleep on the couch and then again in the car on the way home.
The following day, his speech flowed more freely and he was calmer and able to allow his mind time to think about what he wanted to say without getting frustrated. His teachers noticed how much calmer he was and that he was able to focus on learning in the classroom.
I could see how this therapy had helped my family and I began to look for places where I could learn how to do this and to see if it was for me.
I went to an introductory day in Manchester in 2018, where I was amazed that when I put my hands near people’s heads I could feel a sensation of movement around the head, like a tide going in and out. The tutors there asked what I could feel and told me that I would be able to learn this gentle therapy, so I signed up and started in September 2019.
Over the next 3 years I learnt how to assess people and to treat them hands on and at a distance, the Covid lockdowns had an effect on my learning and we went online, thus learning how to do distance treatments.
Finally in October 2020, we were face to face again and learning hands on. Exams and teaching clinics took place and finally in April 2022 I was qualified and able to start helping people.
